About this Event
Are you the sort of person who looks at empty or underused spaces around Calgary and thinks to yourself: "Why?" Do you find yourself wishing there were more ways you could get involved in making Calgary resilient and beautiful?
Join Jack, co-founder of Vacant Lots Farm Club, as we walk around Country Hills Village Pond, ending up at our new community farm location.
Along the way we'll discuss the different opportunities that empty spaces present, through a nature based lens. From tiny little patches, to acres of park, you'll learn to look at your surroundings in a new way. Once we arrive at Vacant Lots Farm Club we will be discussing therapeutic horticulture, which is a fancy term for growing food and flowers to make you feel good! We will then do a short land observation activity to demonstrate how tuning into our surroundings is a powerful tool.
WALK NOTES: breaks offered along the way, walk is 2km on paved pathway plus 500m on a grass field.
