Cost: $20 per class (or negotiable)*
Registration required. Drop-ins accepted. Ten students maximum.
Description: One hour warm-up with games and improv, followed by monologue and scene work. Bring your own material. If you prefer, Carolyn can assign something, or direct you in an improv. An opportunity to inspire one another, work together, connect with peers, practice joy, reconnect with the love of performing, and PLAY. All experience levels are welcome.
*Barter or exchange in lieu of cash payment will also be considered. I want this to be affordable and accessible, regardless of people's financial means.

About the teacher:
Carolyn Guillet has devoted herself to the study and practice of theatre for over four decades. As a producer she ran Dramuse, a company which specialized in hybrid performances of music, poetry, and storytelling. She spent seven years at Infinitheatre, eventually becoming its Co-Artistic Director. For a decade she taught and directed students at Dawson College. Notable acting roles include Queen Elizabeth in “Richard III” at the Manitoba Theatre Centre, playing opposite William Hurt, Deb in “Mom’s The Word” at the Centaur Theatre (Just For Laughs), as well as roles in her own one-woman shows, “Plucked, Hammered and Strung” (Infinitheatre), and “The Beggar’s Ballet” (Montreal Fringe). Guillet’s original creations include explorations of such non-theatre writers as Emily Carr, Gwendolyn MacEwen, and Nancy Huston. Her life-long fascination with the actor’s creative process led to extensive study of the radical training techniques of Pol Pelletier, and clown work with John Turner. Guillet holds an MA in Drama from the University of Toronto, and an MFA in Performance from York University.

A propos du professeur :
Carolyn Guillet se consacre à l'étude et à la pratique du théâtre depuis plus de quarante ans. En tant que productrice, elle a dirigé Dramuse, une compagnie spécialisée dans les spectacles hybrides de musique, de poésie et de contes. Elle a passé sept ans à l'Infinitheatre en tant que codirectrice artistique aux côtés de Guy Sprung. Pendant dix ans, elle a enseigné et dirigé des étudiants au Dawson College. Elle a notamment joué la reine Elizabeth dans Richard III au Manitoba Theatre Centre, aux côtés de William Hurt, Deb dans Mom's The Word au Centaur Theatre (Juste pour rire), ainsi que des rôles dans ses propres spectacles solo, Plucked, Hammered and Strung (Infinitheatre) et The Beggar's Ballet (Fringe de Montréal). Les créations originales de Guillet comprennent des explorations d'auteurs non théâtraux comme Emily Carr, Gwendolyn MacEwen et Nancy Huston.
