Within the actor live many archetypes and therefore many voice and physical possibilities. In this introduction to acting with archetypes workshop, participants will step into guided archetype journeys that explore the universal essences of Archetypal figures found in myths and legends: The Trickster, The Hero, and The Warrior. While we will not explore all of these Archetypes in the workshop, we will dive into a few and then apply discoveries to dramatic text. The Archetype work for the artist offers the possibility to expand creative potential, enrich the imagination, and inform choices, for example, when developing characters and roles.
This one-day intensive is hands-on and studio-based. Open to actors and movers of all levels; no prior experience is required. Please bring a short song or monologue you know well.
Taught by: Bridget Connors is a professional actor and voice teacher, Associate Teaching Professor at the University of Washington School of Drama, a Certified Linklater Teacher, and a long-time teacher of Acting with Archetypes.
