Join the Performing and Media Arts for an acting masterclass with Tanmay Dhanania on Thursday, September 11, from 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM, in the Black Box Theatre, Schwartz Center for the Performing Arts. During this masterclass, participants will gain insights into performing for international cinema and television, learning essential techniques for preparing camera-ready roles. Dhanania will share his "Actor as Maker" approach, a methodology he has successfully implemented in his professional career and taught across the globe.
The event is free and open to the public, with no registration required.
Tanmay Dhanania studied nuclear engineering at UC Berkeley & then trained as an actor at the RoyalAcademy of Dramatic Art. He went on to appear in UK television shows such as New Tricks (BBC), Indian Summers (Channel 4) and The Durrells (itv). He has also acted in and helped produce Indian independent films such as ‘Brahman Naman’ which premiered in competition at Sundance 2016 and went on to become Asia’s first Netflix original. He acted in and was a producer on ‘Garbage’ which premiered at the Berlinale 2018. He acted in and executive produced ‘Cat Sticks’ which premiered in competition at Slamdance 2019 and won Honourable Mention there and was subsequently acquired by MUBI. He has worked in film, television and theatre in the UK, the US, Malaysia, Greece, Ireland, Sri Lanka and India, w/recent shows & films including: “Scoop” (Netflix), Mafia, Nazarband, Nishiddho, and many others.
