12:30 - 3 pm: Acting Auditions for Comedies
3 pm - 6 pm: Singing Auditions for Musicals
6 pm - 8 pm: Possible Callbacks (if needed)
(All performers interested in being cast in the musicals must attend both the Acting and the Singing Audition sessions)
Auditions open to anyone in the community (do not need to be IRSC students nor Performing Arts students to audition or be cast). Please note that most rehearsals during the year take place Monday thru Friday, 2 pm - 5 pm. While every actor is not called to every rehearsal, it is important that this time block be kept as free as possible (from work, other classes, etc.)
Acting Auditions: No preparation or memorized monologues necessary. We will provide "sides" (scenes) from the play scripts on the day of for actors to read over and audition with. This is called "cold reading." It does help to familiarize yourself with the show descriptions and character breakdowns (listed below) so you can get an idea of what kinds of shows/characters these are and which ones you might be interested in being considered for.
Singing Auditions: No prepared musical theatre selection is necessary. We will provide "cuts" (excerpts from the songs) from both musicals on the day of and teach actors the music before they audition. It does help to familiarize yourself with the show descriptions and character breakdowns (listed below) so you can get an idea of what kinds of shows/characters these are and which ones you might be interested in being considered for. We have also included the song cuts (sheet music and vocal recording) on this website, so if you're able to begin familiarizing yourself with the audition material for the characters you are interested in, that will help you on August 15th.
Please dress professionally (as you would for a business interview) and bring or wear closed-toe shoes (no flip flops, crocs, or sandals). There will NOT be a dance call for these auditions, so you do not need to bring dance attire.
Please arrive no later than 12:30 pm to sign in and plan to be available through 8 pm if possible (in case of Callbacks). (Sign-in will start at 12 noon.)
There will be breaks and you'll have time during the day to do other things, but we need this full block of time in order to audition all 4 shows of the theatre season. We are casting the entire season from these auditions, so you will more than likely be asked to read multiple scenes with multiple different partners. The process can take a little while.
