I paint my interest, which is history. I love the old masters, like Da Vinci and Botticelli, and I use the skills learnt from examining and recreating paintings into my own original works. I try to capture personality and soul from faces and scenes, modern and historical. I am studying a Bachelor of Arts majoring in history and minoring in classics and archaeology, so this informs my practice and subject matter. My creative highlights include gaining a Merit grade for my NCEA Level 3 art portfolio in 2020, entering and selling paintings in the 200 Show at the arts village for the past few years, gaining First in the Painting category at the University of Otago Intercollege Art Competition in 2022, the Rosslyn Gallery Cup for Artistic Excellence, St Margaret’s College, Otago in 2022, as well as first in the painting and textile categories at the St Margaret's College Otago art competition in the same year. In 2023 I received third in painting at the University of Otago Intercollege art competition, and first in painting in the St Margaret's College Otago art competition. I have also done a few commission pieces here and there.A 2hr workshop to create an A5 portrait using acrylic paints.
