About this Event
This class series will focus on techniques to create a sense of drama in paintings emanating from strong shadows and light. Subjects will include barns, buildings & still life. Students will learn techniques to add dimension and value contrast to their paintings using light and shadow. Students will work from reference photos provided but are encouraged to take photos in the early morning and late evening when shadows are pronounced as well as “still life” set ups in class. This class series is open to those with some previous painting experience or who have taken Cathy’s Acrylic Essentials course.
Materials: Students will supply all materials including a sketch book and sketching tools, paint, brushes, pallet and painting surface of your choice. Some reference photos will be provided but students are encouraged to take and
bring their own. Please bring a phone with a camera to aid in developing your painting and documenting your progress. Cathy will share a materials list with enrolled students.
