Remove fear and build insights on acrylic techniques, vision, design & basic painting skills.
About this Event

This course is designed to remove fear and build insights on acrylic techniques, vision, design & basic painting skills to help you to be able to create your own landscape paintings. Please arrive an hour early on the first day to set up, as we’ll be diving in right away. This class is designed for painters who have minimal to advanced painting skills.

Days 1 & 2: The Source of Light and how to portray volume and perspective.

We will practice blending colors and adjusting values & textures with acrylic paint. Suggest volume when painting basic landscape forms such as trees, bushes, rocks, water, hills and mountains. Study Aerial and linear perspective and integrating the light direction to help bring life to your paintings. These studies can be worked on throughout the workshop.

Photos will be provided to practice from but please feel free to bring what you want to paint as long it is your original photography.

Days 3 & 4: Create your own Landscape.

Compose and paint a landscape with some architecture on a larger canvas or watercolor paper.

Design and build a depth of field for your painting, from your photographs. Select a color scheme to pull your painting together in a unique way. I will bring photocopies of the same subject matter I’m working on if you want to paint the same subject. This can be done on a larger canvas…at least 16” x 20” or larger.

The workshop is Wednesday - Saturday January 15-18 10:00-3:30 and you may leave your supplies overnight.

You have an hour for lunch. There are several restaurants nearby or bring your own lunch.
