Join us for this special walk at the 2026 York Residents' Festival, as we explore the hidden history of southern Acomb.
Leave the city centre behind during the 2026 Residents’ Festival and uncover a different part of York’s hidden history. On this special walk we will explore the southern part of Acomb, on a circular route through its historic – and prehistoric – landscape. From high streets to low fields, with Tudor farms, a Quaker who wanted to change time, and the ring road that never was, Acomb’s hidden history has a lot of stories to tell.
This 90-minute guided walk starts and finishes outside Acomb Explore Library. The route is step-free but some of the paths are uneven and may not be suitable for people of limited mobility. The walk is aimed at people aged 11+ and there is no fixed ticket price – please donate whatever you feel you can pay.
