The APBW is funded by a grant from the City of Phoenix and services the one square mile from 35th to 43rd Avenues and Thunderbird to Greenway Roads.
The Acoma Park Block Watch serves the homeowners and residents of the Acoma Park Neighborhoods or Sunburst Farms communities.
Our general meetings are held on the first Wednesday of January, March, May, August, October and December at the Light and Life Church at Greenway and 39th Avenue. All meetings begin at 6:30 pm. Please check events section for updates.
The mission of this Block Watch program is to improve our subdivision safety, awareness, improvement, community involvement and provide advocacy for our base to the city.
The APBW serves as an umbrella organization over other neighborhood projects. You will find more information on events hosted by or supported by the APBW on the Facebook page events calendar.
One of the organizations supported by the APBW is a network of Little Free Libraries paid for by an additional City of Phoenix grant and pending installation within our neighborhood through volunteers from the block watch.
If you own your property INSIDE our service area and would like to host a library in your front yard, you are invited to email us at this email address.
To follow the progress with the Little Free Libraries, go to this Facebook page:

We are currently looking for a founding group of individuals for the creation of a shooting club for the persons resident in our one square mile to provide a responsible location for firearm safety and training. The Ben Avery Shooting facility a few miles north of us has agreed to participate as our host location for the group. This is also a volunteer supported group. Should you want more information about the Acoma Park Shooting Club or to volunteer, more information is available at:
https://www.facebook.com/AcomaParkSC/
The Ben Avery Shooting Facility at the Carefree Highway and I-17 is seeking volunteers to be trained as Range Safety Officers.
RSOs work a volunteer schedule at YOUR convenience and along a spectrum of tasks & opportunity to suit your interests and abilities.
A volunteer who works a total of EIGHT (8) hours a month receives range time with NO DAILY RANGE FEES.
If interested, email the coordinator for volunteer training, David Williams, at [email protected] .
Members of the Shooting Club who also volunteer at Ben Avery will have NO RANGE FEES, even during group events.
The Sunburst Farms Community Cooperative is adjacent to the block watch service area and additionally holds neighborhood events. The Farms is a special irrigation district cooperative supporting the equestrian ranchettes which were established in this area in the early 1970s. Information regarding their group is available on their Facebook page at:
https://www.facebook.com/groups/SunburstFarmsPHX/
The Farms also hosts a neighborhood street fair. For more information or to volunteer, check out their Facebook page.
Ironwood Elementary School has an active parent teacher organization. Information regarding their PTO is available at:
https://www.facebook.com/IronwoodElementaryPTO/
Ironwood Elementary hosts two community events each year, a Fall Festival and a Spring Fling. These events are organized through the Parent-Teacher Organization and are also in need of volunteers.
Members of the Acoma Park Block Watch receive training from the City of Phoenix through many different outlets. APBW also supports volunteer patrols of our neighborhood through the Phoenix Neighborhood Patrol, the community training arm of the City of Phoenix Police Department.
