This eight-week class is an introduction to intaglio printmaking with a press designed to familiarize students with a broad spectrum of techniques and materials for intaglio printmaking without acid or ferric chloride. Each class session will include a step by step instructor demo relevant examples from historical and contemporary print artists and time for students to develop their own work in a supported environment. Intaglio methods covered will include drypoint silk aquatint and collagraph. Students will have the opportunity to try out a variety of tools for mark making and building up tonality on zinc and acrylic plates and gain experience in inking an intaglio plate and pulling prints. Beginners are welcome - no prior experience necessary!
