This course focuses on how you can move children from dependence to greater independenceAbout this Event
What does it take for your children to achieve greater depth in both reading and writing? This course focuses on how you can move children from dependence to greater independence. You will get the chance to reflect on your practice, and explore how to challenge your children to link their reading and writing skills across the curriculum.
- Considering how to closely develop pupils’ ability to understand word meanings and authors’ uses of language, moving them from basic to deeper management of their own vocabulary, sentence construction and grammar when writing
- Focus on developing cohesion and flow, moving beyond the exploration and practice of a range of writing techniques into honed, author-like content
- Gaining a deeper understanding of what greater depth should look like across all year groups
- Looking at the skills required to be a successful reader, moving children from basic comprehension to deep, consistent application of more complex inference and deduction
- Providing you with a range of practical activities to demonstrate what classroom practice may look like
