Woodland Activity Leader Training is an affordable and in-depth crash course into outdoor learning, providing the perfect alternative to Forrest School training. Developed in Scotland for Scottish educators, the course is Professionally Recognised by the General Teaching Council for Scotland and officially Endorsed by Education Scotland. Condensing all the skills and experience you need to take your lessons outdoors safely and with confidence, you will gain a wealth of experience and understanding including:
- Outdoor Group management
- Risk assessments for outdoor environments
- Teaching safe tool use including forestry saws, loppers and knives
- Bush craft skills including fire lighting, shelter, knots and tarps
- Naturalist skills including plants, trees, minibeasts, native mammals and birds
- Learning how to read animal tracks and signs
- Developing inspiring outdoor lessons and adapting curricular content for outdoor contexts including literature, math and science
- Conservation and community connection
- Promoting health and wellbeing through nature connection
- A tool box of games and activities that any educator can work seamlessly into outdoor sessions

This course follows the theory section of our online Woodland Activity Leader Training course and allows you to finish your qualification and become an Outdoor Leader.
Set in the beautiful Mugdock Country Park, 10 miles north of Glasgow, this 3 day course is focuses on the practical section of our Woodland Activity Leader Training course.
You will need to have completed the online theory section before taking this course.
