About this Event
Children will have fun learning the basics of making an accordion book - with pockets! - based on the festival theme - Planting seeds for Sustainable Growth and New Beginnings. Using basic folding techniques and collaging fun materials together to decorate their books, children will take home a delightful work of book-art.
Maureen Da Silva (she/her) is a Tkaronto/Toronto-based settler in Canada of Portuguese descent. She is a teacher of both adults and children and is currently the Curatorial Assistant, for Schools and Early Learning Programs at the Art Gallery of Ontario.
Her practice focuses on silk screen, lithography and relief, with forays into bookbinding. She has taken her love of print into the co-founding of the not-for-profit artist group, The inPrint Collective, of which she is the Studio Manager. Through this collective, Maureen has been proud to showcase work in Scotiabank NuitBlanche (2012), Printopolis (2010), Culture Days (2010-2018) and other spaces across the GTA. InPrint has also engaged in a number of community-based projects with partners such as The Scarborough Museum, East End Arts, and GravenFeather Studio.
