About this Event
Rehearsal and choreography practices connecting mind, body, & spirit for people who don’t care for most dance classes.
Ever found yourself crushed under the expectations and judgement of traditional dance classes? Maybe it’s anxiety, mobility barriers, body pain or memory issues? Maybe you just don’t love a rigid perfectionism model for building a creative relationship with your body? In fact, maybe it’s not you at all - maybe we can find ways to bring dance into our lives that doesn’t make us cry or wish we were different.
In this workshop we will discover how prioritizing your relationship to body and spirit can open up a new avenue for creative movement that circumvents some of the barriers associated with traditional western methods of dance learning and creating.
Guided by the wisdom and desire of our bodies, we will explore new studio habits and rehearsal strategies to find a more balanced and fulfilling choreography practice.
Participants can expect a blend of discussion, embodiment activities and dance. Wear comfortable clothes that make you feel good in. Bring a yoga mat or blanket.
