This month’s session, “How To Obtain Capital & What Lenders Require,” will guide you through the key steps to secure business funding and understand what financial institutions look for when evaluating loan applications.

Whether you're starting a new venture or growing an existing business, this session will help you prepare your business for success when seeking capital.

Our featured speaker, Darren Fichtner with the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at Johnson County Community College, will share practical tips and strategies to help you strengthen your financial position, meet lender expectations, and confidently approach the funding process.

About the Speaker:
Darren Fichtner brings a unique 360-degree perspective to small business, having served as both an entrepreneur and an internal business leader. He has owned and operated his own landscaping company, worked as a business operations manager, and taught business at the secondary education level. With more than 20 years of experience in the field, Darren has supported organizations in optimizing performance, streamlining operations, solving complex business challenges, and developing strategic growth initiatives that support long-term scalability and success.

Darren holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Education from Missouri Southern State University and an MBA with a concentration in Human Resources from Pittsburg State University. For the past three years, he has served with SBDC, partnering with business owners to strengthen their operations, refine decision-making, and accelerate growth.
