This workshop will explore the line between figurative and abstract painting and consider the themes in the exhibition Sun Over Swamp as starting points for our paintings. In the spirit of our new inquiry question How can we work together? we will experiment with collaborative and individual painting approaches that embrace gesture, movement and subtle references to the local ecology and land. Prioritising shapes over literal representations and using a limited colour palette we will create a series of works on paper that respond imaginatively to the land.Instructor: Yvonne Vander Kooi
