Absolute Music Chamber Series blends music with community by adapting the traditional European soirée format to a modern setting. The series developed from collaboration between Richard Sherman, Professor of Flute at Michigan State University and Kathy Holcomb, owner of Absolute Gallery in Old Town. Professor Sherman envisioned bringing classical music closer to the community. In Holcomb’s Absolute Gallery he found the setting for his vision: an intimate, acoustically superior space that could be transformed from gallery to performance hall, to a gathering place for informal discussion. Holcomb shared his vision, eager to bring music and vitality to Old Town, Lansing.
