Jesse Philips (1shtar) is a local artist and graphic designer. Those of you who attend shows at the downtown ABQ “Sister” bar, will recognize his art on a myriad of promotional posters. I had the pleasure of showing with Jesse a couple of years ago at the AC2 Gallery “Collage” exhibit, and am super happy to share my studio with him for September ABQ Artwalk!
His work is fun, thought provoking, colorful, busy in a good way, and many have a Japanese aesthetic. His statement tells you a good bit about his mind too: "The villain himself was ultimately responsible for much of the popularity, audiences loved to hate. The importance of the villain was not overlooked…”
