Save the Date! The Goldfields Aboriginal Language Centre's 2025 Aboriginal languages conference will run between 21-23 October 2025, in Kalgoorlie.
People and organisations who speak a language, are involved in languages, work on languages, in language programs, language centres, native title bodies, education programs, or who are interested in the language field, are invited to attend.
Announcing the fabulous 3 keynote speakers:
1. Professor Peter Austin who is an emeritus professor and linguistic language specialist, will talk on language rejuvenation as an act of reclaiming sovereign rights.
2. Thomas Mayo - author and signatory of the Ulruru Statement will present on language sovereignty. Author of many books.
3. Peter-Lucas Jones - author of a Maori language app will present on the establishment of a product based on linguistic sovereign rights and principles.
A wide range of talks, papers, workshops and book launches will be held during the conference.
The call for papers and presentations will be released late April 2025. A theme expansion will also be released. Watch this space for further info or email you email address to [email protected] for updates.
Registrations will open late April 2025. 3-day fee $650. Conference dinner Wed 22 October $100.
