This social walking weekend in the Lake District is designed for people new to walking in mountainous terrain, as well as those more seasoned hikers who want to enjoy a relaxed and friendly walking environment. We will be based close to Patterdale, in the South Eastern Lake District.
Over two days of guided walks, you will have the chance to enjoy some stunning views, in a spectacular location, and chat with like minded individuals, leaving the navigation and logistics in the hands of empathetic and experienced guides. No walking experience is required, but reasonable level of fitness is expected as the mountainous environment can be demanding.
We will start our weekend on the Friday evening with a social gathering at the Brotherswater Inn, to get to know one another and discuss the planned walks for the weekend. Depending on numbers attending there is likely to be a choice of walk on both days, either opting for a challenging mountain walk or a more gentle valley option.
On each day, you will be guided on fabulous walks setting off around 9:30 - 10am. On the walks you will be guided by a qualified and knowledgeable Mountain Leader who will provide you with guidance and support. We will aim to be back to our start point between 3:30 - 4pm on both days, giving you a chance to relax and socialise together. On Saturday evening there will be the option of joining for a group meal and drinks at a local pub.
I am not a registered tour operator, therefore, you will need to provide your own travel, food and accommodation for the duration of the weekend. There are various accommodation options in nearby Patterdale, Hartsop and Glenridding, however, we (your guides) will be based at Sykeside Campsite, where there are plenty of accommodation options to suit your budget / requirements, including a beautiful B&B in the on-site pub. Dogs are welcome, but must be well-behaved, friendly and fit / agile enough to cope with full day walks (max. 2 dogs per person).
As with all Abigail's Trails, this is a small-group guided walking event led by professional Mountain Leaders with public liability insurance, Outdoor First Aid and Mental Health First Aid certificates.
