Could your horse have sand? Abdominal Radiographs and Exam, by appointment, $125 per horse.
Sand colic can present as a mild, intermittent, recurring colic similar to gas or stomach ulcer pain due to the accumulation of sand in the horse’s GI tract.
Radiographs taken with our high powered generator of a horse’s abdomen will detect sand accumulation in the large colon. In addition, sand accumulation can often be found by listening to gut sounds and sometimes by fecal sand test.
If you suspect your horse may have sand accumulation, call our office at 803-648-0430 to schedule, or visit https://aikenequinevet.com/could-your-horse-have-sand/ for more information.
