About this Event
This is a chance for beginners to learn a little more about moths and butterflies. What is the difference? Where do you find them? How do you identify them?
We will learn about the different types of moths and how to catch them before emptying the moth traps. We will also learn about the different species of butterflies found round Essex and their preferred food plants. Afterwards we will go on a walk to look for butterflies and day flying moths.
You are welcome to bring any identifcation books you may have (always good to practice with your own!), we will have some to share. You may also wish to bring a notebook and camera.
Tea and coffee will be provided, you will need to bring lunch (there is a tearoom on site should you wish to purchase food). The day will take place outdoors so please come prepared! Suitable for age 16+.
We will be meeting at the education shelter. Directions will be given at the front desk. Please bring sturdy shoes for walking.
