Abberton Bird Box Building

This February half term, get making and take action to help the birds living in your garden. Learn a bit about the birds that might live in your garden and how you can help them.

We will provide you with a 'build your own bird box' kit, including the tools and knowledge to assemble it yourself.

Adults will need to be comfortable using tools, as we will be using hammers and nails. Recommended for children aged 5+

🎫 Who needs a ticket to attend?

All children require a ticket to attend this event. Adults do not require a ticket.

🏠Will I get to take my bird box home?

Yes, you will make a wooden bird box and take it home when you are done

🕊️Where do I put my bird box?

Advice on bird box placement will be given in the session

🎒What do I need to bring with me?

This session will take place outside, so wear suitable clothing. Otherwise, you just need to bring yourself! All tools and resources will be provided.

🌳Will the activities take place outside?

Yes, activities will be outside. The crafts will take place in our shelter, which is protected from rain, but still outdoors.

🌍Where are you based?

We are based in North Essex, local to Colchester.

🥜My Child Has Allergies. Will they be able to eat the snack?

Allergen information is provided by you at the time of booking- we will make sure there is a suitable option for participants who have provided allergen details on their booking.

🥾What should we wear?

Please dress for being outside - lots of layers. If it has been raining, the paths will be muddy and have lots of puddles, so wellies or boots are advised.

☕Is there a Cafe or shop?

The visitor centre has a shop and café serving hot and cold drinks, snacks, ice cream, and light lunches.

🐕‍🦺Can we bring a dog?

Assistance dogs are welcome at our events.

♿Will the event be accessible?

Our trail follows one of our accessible gravel paths, so it is suitable for buggies and wheelchairs. There is also ramp access to the shelter
