Founded in Denmark in 1898, Vestas has grown into the world’s largest manufacturer, installer, and servicer of wind turbines, operating in over 80 countries, with their headquarters located in Aarhus N, Denmark.
Vestas employs over 30,000 people globally, who work every day to shape a more sustainable future by designing, installing, and maintaining wind energy projects worldwide.

You as a student are to solve one of the cases in 12 hours. Use your ideas, education, and imagination to provide your proposal. You can apply for all three cases. If so, we will assign you one to solve based on your application.

𝟏) 𝐓𝐄𝐂𝐇𝐍𝐎𝐋𝐎𝐆𝐘
Software engineers face many challenges, including repetitive tasks. Tools like Copilot help, but there's still room for improvement.
In the fast-paced world of software development, companies like Vestas face the challenge of staying innovative while keeping things efficient. Software engineers have a lot on their plates, from fixing bugs to writing new code and reviewing other people's work. This leaves little time for creative problem-solving, as they often spend time on repetitive tasks.
𝐓𝐚𝐬𝐤: Where are the bottlenecks in development? Which tasks are manual, repetitive, and prone to errors? How can AI help?
Prerequisites: You are expected to know GitHub Actions AND have basic knowledge in Software Engineering principles.
𝟐) 𝐁𝐔𝐒𝐈𝐍𝐄𝐒𝐒 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐀𝐑𝐂𝐇𝐈𝐓𝐄𝐂𝐓𝐔𝐑𝐄
Vestas has put all its IT-people together into one big group called Digital Solutions. This new group is really good at its job, but it has a problem: when they want to create new things, like new apps or services, they need to work together with other teams. This can be tricky because these teams are all experts in different things, and sometimes they don't talk to each other very well. To make sure everyone works together smoothly, they need the right tools and frameworks.
𝐓𝐚𝐬𝐤: How can Vestas break down silos and coordinate across specialized areas while minimizing inefficiencies and communication gaps?

At Vestas, people work in teams that are made up of experts from different areas. This is great because it means everyone knows a lot about their specific job. But it can also be hard because people might feel like they belong more to their own specialized group than to the team they're working on. Vestas therefore needs to help employees feel like they fit in both places and that they're growing and learning.
𝐓𝐚𝐬𝐤: How can employees feel a sense of belonging and growth within both their specialized group and the Product Teams they serve?

The cases are not limited to any education, so every student is welcome to apply for AAU Case Competition 2025!
By participating you will use your creativity and ideas to solve a case for the global leader in sustainable energy solutions.
You will work in a team of 3-4. Bring your own team together, or sign up as an individual/in pairs, and we will assemble a team for you!
