About Aasvoël Kranz Cave
The cave is a natural rock shelter perched on the mountainside, offering incredible views of the valley below. A small waterfall cascades over the edge of the cave, creating a magical ambiance for your overnight stay. You’ll fall asleep to the soothing sounds of water and wake up surrounded by the unspoiled wilderness of the Drakensberg.
This cave has plenty of space for a small group, making it ideal for beginners or families looking for a unique outdoor experience.

Date: 3–4 May 2025
Place: Highmoor Campsite, Drakensberg
Details of the Hike:
Distance: 9km round trip (4.5km each way)
Grading: Grade 2 – Not too strenuous; moderate fitness required
The trail is well-marked and easy to follow, with gradual inclines and breathtaking scenery along the way, including rolling hills, streams, and panoramic mountain views.

R1299pp (EARLY BRID) otherwise R1499pp
Optional gear hire is available, or bring your own.
What’s Included:
-2x cooked meals (dinner and breakfast) – vegan options available
-Coffee/tea, and light snacks upon arrival at the cave

What to Bring:
-Snacks, water, or cold drinks
-Backpack
-Your sleeping bag (or hire one from us!)
-Hiking boots with good grip (NO FLAT SHOES ALLOWED!)
-Rain gear (just in case)
-A hiking stick (recommended). Bring your own or purchase one from us for R299 (please order in advance via EFT or cash).
Eco-Friendly Reminder:
We strongly encourage hikers to use green/eco-friendly wet wipes and toilet paper to preserve the natural beauty of the Berg. Let’s do our part to keep this special place pristine!
