Join us for light refreshments and a variety of crafts and activities celebrating our Asian American and Pacific Islander communities during this AAPI Heritage Month. Dr. Ada Cheng will present "Our Words, Our Truths," a community-based exploration into the powers of personal storytelling from 1-2 p.m., sponsored by Illinois Humanities.
Pre-registration highly recommended for "Our Words, Our Truths" as space is limited. Reserve your spot online here https://web2.myvscloud.com/wbwsc/ilskokiewt.wsc/iteminfo.html?Module=AR&FMID=137114170 to join Dr. Ada Cheng as she maps out her journey as an Asian American and immigrant storyteller, sharing how her personal stories reflect and mirror the urgent social concerns of our time. Learn about building and expanding community relationships through personal and community-based storytelling.
Dr. Cheng's presentation is co-presented by the Illinois Humanities Road Scholars Speakers Bureau. Road Scholar speakers travel throughout Illinois sharing free, dynamic presentations about literature, philosophy, theater, local history, film, music, politics, and more, at no cost to host organizations. The program enables local nonprofit organizations to present free-admission cultural programs to their communities.
Illinois Humanities is supported in part by the National Endowment for the Humanities: Democracy Demands Wisdom and the Illinois General Assembly (through the Illinois Arts Council Agency), as well as by contributions from individuals, foundations, and corporations.
