About this Event
The Alberta Additive Manufacturing Network (AAMN) is hosting an exciting hackathon focused on solving the unique challenges of designing and developing jigs and fixtures for manufacturing. This is an excellent opportunity for students to apply their skills, gain hands-on experience, and work on real-world challenges, while companies have the chance to collaborate with the brightest young minds to improve their production processes.
For Students:
- Hands-On Learning: Work directly with industry experts and professionals in a collaborative environment.
- Real-World Application: Apply your knowledge to solve actual manufacturing problems and enhance your skills in additive manufacturing, design, and prototyping.
- Networking: Build connections with industry leaders, companies, and peers that could lead to future career opportunities.
- Prizes & Recognition: Compete for exciting prizes and gain recognition for your innovative solutions.
For Companies:
- Real Solutions for Manufacturing Challenges: Provide a part or challenge in need of a jig or fixture design and work with talented students to develop solutions tailored to your needs.
- Cost-Effective Innovation: Gain access to cutting-edge ideas and solutions from students using the latest additive manufacturing technologies, without the overhead costs.
- Talent Recruitment: Identify top students who may be future employees, offering a pipeline of skilled talent to meet your company’s needs.
- Collaborative R&D: Leverage the hackathon as a platform for open innovation, testing new ideas and technologies in a fast-paced, creative environment.
How It Works:
- Companies: Submit a part or specific challenge related to jigs or fixtures that needs an innovative solution.
- Students: Register to participate, form teams, and work on real-world challenges provided by companies.
- Sharing: Teams present their designs, and solutions are developed using additive manufacturing methods with a webinar and in person at WMTS at the SmartMTX pavilion in Edmonton (April 11, 2025).
