Calling all runners! Join us as we officially kick off the AACR Philadelphia Marathon 26.2 Training season with Bart Yasso, Mark Sullivan and our friends at Philadelphia Runner!
Bart Yasso has been dubbed the “mayor of running” throughout his 31-year career at Runner's World magazine, where he served as the Chief Running Officer and is one of a few people to have completed races on all seven continents.
Mark Sullivan is a Philadelphia Marathon LEGacy Runner and one of only two people to have run every Philadelphia Marathon.
We are so excited to have Bart & Mark with us to kick-off this training run with distances of 3, 6 or 8 miles.
NOTE: You do not need to be a marathon runner to join us.
Everyone will gather at the bottom of the Philadelphia Museum of Art (PMA) Steps starting at 7:00am to warm up and take a photo. The run will start promptly at 7:30am. We will head out as a group and break off according to distance (3, 6, or 8 miles) and pace.
Choose your distance and FINISH on Kelly Drive at Lloyd Hall, where we will have bananas and water for all runners and the opportunity to engage with some of our partners until 9:30 am. If you are new to the area, we will pass the finish area as we run out to the different turnaround areas. It is close to the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
Runners can park close to: 1 Boathouse Row, Philadelphia, PA 19130 or along Sedgley Drive, across from Lloyd Hall, to drop off any items you may want post-run. There will not be a gear check, but there will be a "gear area' with plenty of space and staff around to watch over “non-valuable” items. Those who do not have anything to drop off can go directly to the base of art museum steps.
