About this Event
Johny Mullins from Layton Hollow, Missouri, wrote some really great songs. He penned many country classics recorded by Emmylou Harris, Loretta Lynn, Sinead O'Conner, Porter Wagoner and Elvis Costello. Loretta had big hits with Success (Has Made a Failure of Our Home) in 1962, and Blue Kentucky Girl which went to #8 on the Country Charts in 1965. Not bad for a full time grade school janitor from small town Missouri. He never quit his day job even when he was nominated for a Grammy! After Johny passed on fifteen years ago, his daugher, Melinda, began singing his praises. She's learned many of her Dad's great songs and has taken them on the road!
She will be performing with the Layton Hollow Gals at the Vintage Auditorium (15th and New Hampshire Streets in Lawrence) on Friday, November 15th, as part of the East Side Concert Series. Doors open at 6:30 P.M. The Layton Hollow gals at 7:00 P.M. Tickets are $15.00.
