About this Event
We are delighted to invite you to an evening with Chloe Dalton, author of Raising Hare, for an interview followed by a signing. Cafe W will remain open for this event.
Raising Hare chronicles Chloe's experience of raising - and living with - a young European brown hare which was separated from its mother. The hare, which is never caged, lives in the wild but returns freely to the house where it was raised. Heart-warming and beautifully written this is a wonderful book which we implore all readers who love nature, and feel passionately about it, to read.
Raising Hare has received glowing reviews from the likes of Katherine Rundell, Michael Morpurgo, Chris Packham, and Angelina Jolie.

According to conservationists, the brown hare population has declined by more than 80% in the UK over the last century, largely due to modern intensive farming methods. Hares are the only game species in England and Wales not protected by a close hunting season. A 19th century law means they can be shot throughout the year, even during the breeding season. Hare coursing – in which dogs are used to chase down a hare, which is then left dead in the field – is one of the most common wildlife crimes.
