About this Event
BYLT along with Nevada County Association for the Developmentally Disabled present
A Wild Independence Screening & Group Walk
Saturday, June 8th,10am-12pm
Gold Miners Inn in Grass Valley followed by a group walk along Wolf Creek Trail
BYLT and NCADD will host the community for a viewing of the 2021 documentary, A Wild Independence: The Story of Nevada City's Independence Trail, and how naturalist John Olmsted inspired a community and turned an abandoned mining ditch in California's Gold Country into the first wheelchair nature trail in the United States. We will be joined by the filmmaker, Alden Olmsted, along with California State Park representatives with an update on the rebuilding of the Independence Trail West flumes, which were destroyed in the Jones Fire in 2020. The event will open with light refreshments, and be followed by a group walk along Wolf Creek Trail.
This is a free event open to all, though we do ask that people register so have an idea of how many people to expect.
Donations will be accepted during registration as well as at the door. All funds received will go to support the programs and services of BYLT and Nevada County Association for the Developmentally Disabled. Thank you!
