Unleash your inner viking with myth, adventure and games in the company of the companions of the Norse gods - Geri, Freki and Vedrfolir ~ An epic day of myth and adventure awaits in the company of the companions of the gods.This year’s magical family day at Wild Heart Hill not only sees the return of Geri and Freki, Odin’s two wolf companions and the stars of our ongoing, spellbinding story, but introduces the goddess Freya’s hawk Vedrfolir as we once again let our imaginations take wing.
Geri and Freki will be happy to give you the opportunity to have your photos taken with them in Wolf Woods and for you to join them for a meet and greet in the woods as their experienced handler Natalie of Watermill Wolves & Project Wolfheart tells you all about them and answers your wolfie questions.
Feel the thrill as you connect with these magnificent creatures, forming a bond that will leave a lasting impression, and hear tales of their starring role in Norse mythology and their adventures with the gods. This year for the first time you will also have the opportunity to meet the goddess Freya’s hawk, Vedrfolir, as she glides effortlessly accross the field, wings spread wide with her feathered kin in a mesmerising display of birds of prey. Chris from The Falcon’s Quiver Events will be telling us all about falconry, later in the day you will get to meet the silent, deadly bird of prey, the barn owl and learn of human impact on their habitat causing their decline and what we can do to help.
Archer, Red Fox returns and under his experienced guidance you'll have the chance to unleash your inner marksman, test your archery skills and hit the bullseye. But the adventure doesn't stop there. Engage in the age-old traditional competition of Tug-of-War that will challenge your agility, teamwork, and strategic thinking. Young folks vs adults or perhaps family tribe vs family tribe, gods vs goddesses.
And what would a viking-era family day be without some foot stomping, hearty singing? Oh... and food, of course. Local Spudshack man, Rick, will once again be on hand, serving up delicious jacket potatoes with various fillings (prices from £5-£8.00) and will be able to quench your thirst with a selection of cold or hot drinks. (not included in ticket price)
Please feel free to dress up for the occasion in your best iron-age or viking-era outfits, we are! (no sharp blades please) Or perhaps there is a particular Norse god/goddess you would like to emulate. Alternatively just come along as you choose. Please wear suitable footware if you are going to be walking through the woods.

NB - We ask that all dogs on site be kept on a lead while the wolves are about. Not because they are dangerous but because they will be distracted and want to play.
