Dear friends, this might be one of the hardest posts i have ever written (the other one was when my partner Josh was retained in China for ridiculous and unreasonable reasons). This one is for my beautiful friend and Yoga teacher Holly Green.Holly is one of my yoga teachers who have inspired me, and her teaching is very hearty, organic and natural, which is just a reflection of who she is. Then i witness her from getting married, falling pregnant, and becoming mother of the most beautiful baby Joey.
Then i saw a heartbroken post from Holly’s sister Tara two weeks ago — their 4 month old son Joey has been diagnosed with brain tumour and had a surgery last Tuesday. The surgery has removed all the tumour but Joey will lose his vision and won’t see.
I can’t even imagine what the family has been through. As a mother I can’t imagine the level of pain a mother can experience. However this family has shown courage and strength and still chooses to appreciate and love life; this is what i am really admiring and learning from them.
So I decided to run a fundraiser for this courageous family, although we have only started up humbly and cannot offer a lot of money which would really support Joey and Holly and her family through the toughest time of their lives. Our little coffee truck’s daily income hasn’t reached $500, and we haven’t accomplished paying ourselves wages.
We are going to run this fundraiser on the 30th of November; it’s a Saturday. We are going to run a Twilight Night from 5 pm to 8 pm, with Dinner Buffet ($30 / head).
The menu includes:
- Garlic and tomato sautéed seafood with mung bean vermicelli, gf
- Kong Pao Chicken. Gf
- Toufu and beetroot and activated quinoa salad (Sichuan style) gf, vegan
- Mushroom stir fry with herbs gf vegan
- Activated organic multi grain rice steamed with mushroom and goji berries
BYO bottles.
We will provide Pure Summer for $7 / bottle (350 ml), made from 100% mixed berry juice, 100% lychee juice, organic cranberry juice, Tasmanian Wild Black Cherry Vinegar, Tasmanian Wild Raspberry Juice, Curcumin Elixer from Açai and Blueberry, Yin Yang Handcrafted Kombucha, Organic Apple Cider Vinegar etc
We will donate all day income to Joey Green. Our target is $1000.
