A Tribute to El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico, one of the greatest salsa bands and recording artists. Your Host for this event is NANCY ALONSO, "The First Lady of Salsa. Music by Joe Hernandez and Orquesta Classica Featuring Sylvestre "SAL" Flores, "El Sonero De Cape Coral". This event will sell out soon just as the past event.

EL GRAN COMBO is one of the longest lasting Salsa orchestras of all time. They are considered pioneers of the Salsa genre and have become one of the most recognizable Salsa bands in the world. The band was founded in Puerto Rico by pianist Rafael Ithier in 1962, shortly after having been a member of Cortijo y Su Combo. Because they wanted to distinguish themselves from any other musical combo, they came up with the name “El Gran Combo” (The Great Combo). They have recorded over 40 albums, released 20 Top Ten hits, won 2 Latin Grammys, received 7 Grammy nominations; were inducted into the International Latin Music Hall of Fame in 2002; and received the Billboard Latin Music Lifetime Achievement Award in 2022. They have continued to define the Salsa genre with chart-topping hits like “Arroz Con Habichuela”, “Brujeria”, “Un Verano en Nueva York”, “Azuquita Pa’l Café”, “Mujer Celosa”, and “Sin Salsa No Hay Paraiso” amongst others.
Musician and bandleader Joe Hernandez has made his mark in SW Florida with his incredible Salsa band whose music is based on old-school Salsa Dura. He has previously worked with nationally renowned artists such as Richie Ray, Eddie “Gua Gua” Rivera and Ernie Agosto among others. To build upon their prior tribute to El Gran Combo in June 2024, they will proudly continue by including more exciting selections by El Gran Combo. You will definitely enjoy this throwback to the heyday of Salsa, with Joe Hernandez and Orquesta Classica as their motto is “Old school salsa with a Touch of Class”.
Your emcee and DJ for the evening will be Nancy Alonso. She is known as “The First Lady of Salsa”, an on-air celebrity for over 18 years and co-founder of Salsa Empire Radio, an internet salsa radio station.
