This special performance features members of The Charles Brown Band, including guitarist Danny Caron, bassist Ruth Davies, and drummer Deszon Claiborne, who all played alongside Charles for many years. They are joined by extraordinary talents like pianist and vocalist Eamonn Flynn, the legendary Maria Muldaur, and the soulful Fred Ross. Together, they will bring Charles Brown’s timeless music to life, capturing the magic of his beloved Christmas songs and the spirit of his unforgettable legacy.
Danny Caron – Danny Caron’s career is a testament to his exceptional talent and versatility as a guitarist. Originally from Silver Spring, Maryland, Caron honed his skills in Austin, Texas, before moving to Lafayette, Louisiana, where he played with Zydeco legend Clifton Chenier, contributing to the Grammy Award-winning album I’m Here in 1980. After relocating to the San Francisco Bay Area, Caron became the guitarist and musical director for Charles Brown from 1987 until Brown's passing in 1999. His extensive recording and performing credits include collaborations with music giants such as Bonnie Raitt, John Lee Hooker, Van Morrison, and Dr. John. Caron was the featured guitarist on the Grammy-winning John Lee Hooker album Don’t Look Back, produced by Van Morrison. Beyond his work with renowned artists, Caron has scored films, performed on prestigious stages like the Kennedy Center. He continues to teach, tour, record, and perform, most recently with Taj Mahal, bringing his soulful guitar work to audiences worldwide.

Ruth Davies – Renowned bassist Ruth Davies has been a key figure in the blues and jazz world for decades, known for her warm tone and impeccable groove. Her 10-year tenure with Charles Brown is just one highlight of a career that has seen her perform with legends such as John Lee Hooker, Etta James, and Jimmy Witherspoon. Ruth’s versatility has also led to collaborations in diverse genres, from jazz with saxophonist Charles Lloyd to rock with Van Morrison. Her discography includes over 50 albums, and she has performed at prestigious venues worldwide, including the Montreux Jazz Festival and Carnegie Hall. In addition to her performance career, Ruth is a passionate educator, mentoring young musicians through programs like the San Francisco Symphony’s "Adventures in Music" and the Stanford Jazz Workshop.

Deszon Claiborne – Deszon Claiborne is a dynamic drummer whose career has spanned multiple genres, including jazz, R&B, and world music. A self-taught musician, Deszon later refined his craft under the mentorship of drumming legends like Billy Cobham. His extensive experience includes collaborations with jazz greats such as Peter Apfelbaum, Les McCann, and Don Cherry, as well as performances with Boz Scaggs and Taj Mahal. Deszon’s drumming is characterized by its rhythmic precision and ability to adapt to any musical context, making him a first-call drummer for both live performances and studio sessions. He is also a dedicated educator, sharing his knowledge with students at institutions like the California Jazz Conservatory. Deszon's powerful yet nuanced drumming will drive the rhythm of "A Charles Brown Christmas," bringing energy and sophistication to this holiday celebration.

Eamonn Flynn – Dublin-born keyboardist, singer, and songwriter Eamonn Flynn is known for his unique blend of Irish soul and American blues. His early career took off when he played Hammond organ and piano on the 14 million-selling soundtrack of The Commitments, a film that has become a cult classic.
