About this Event
Southwest Alternate Media Project (SWAMP) and Reel South present a preview screening of A TOWN CALLED VICTORIA, Episode 1.
A mosque in Victoria, Texas is set on fire. After decades of harmony, the Muslim community watches their cherished mosque reduced to ash. When a local man is arrested for arson, this South Texas community is left to reflect on its complex history with racism. A TOWN CALLED VICTORIA follows the town – its activists and politicians; its preachers and worshippers; its natives and immigrants – as they follow the trial of the suspect and rebuild of the mosque. They will struggle to find answers, connect with each other, and carve a collective way forward.
Screening followed by an exclusive Q&A and live recording of I SEE U with Eddie Robinson, presented by Houston Public Media. Director Li Lu and documentary participants in attendance.
