A Toast to Ariva

Please join us for a celebration of the Ariva community. Join some of the Bronx’s finest nonprofit organizations, community leaders, entrepreneurs and professionals at this engaging cocktail reception & awards presentation. This year’s event will feature food and beverage by La Palapa and live music by the Mason Millard Quartet in a beautiful space generously provided by Fordham Bedford Housing Corporation. You don’t want to miss it!

This year, we will celebrate our longstanding partnership with University Neighborhood Housing Program (UNHP) under the leadership of Executive Director Jim Buckley.

The mission of University Neighborhood Housing Program is to create, preserve, and improve affordable housing and bring needed resources to the Northwest Bronx. For 13 years, UNHP hosted one of Ariva’s free tax preparation sites—at its peak, filing over 1500 tax returns a year. Today, UNHP remains a core partner hosting a certified financial counselor on-site for our Ready to Rent program, and providing us with affordable office space at our Tremont location.

Jim Buckley started his career as a tenant organizer and founded UNHP in 1983 to establish community housing organizations to support tenant managers and tenants’ rights during a time when many Bronx buildings were being neglected or abandoned by landlords and the city. In addition to his visionary leadership at UNHP, Jim served on Ariva’s Board for 10 years.

We are so grateful to have Jim and UNHP as partners in building justice, opportunity, and inclusion in the Bronx. Please join us to celebrate these cherished members of our community!
