About Janet Weir Creighton:
Since 2010, Janet Weir Creighton has served on the Board of Stark County Commissioners, bringing with her 35 years of elected experience and a rich background in government and public affairs. Her impressive career began in Canton/Stark County, Ohio, where she held positions as County Recorder, County Auditor, and became the first woman elected Mayor of the City of Canton.
Creighton's path of service extended to Washington, DC, where she served as Deputy Assistant to President George W. Bush and Director of Intergovernmental Affairs. Her dedication to her city, county, and state is demonstrated through numerous board and commission appointments. Currently, she is Vice President of the Board of Arts in Stark, a member of the Exchange Club of Canton-Stark County, President of Stark Housing Network, a member of the County Commissioners Association of Ohio, and Vice President of the Mariners Island Condo Association.
In 2000, Creighton served as General Chairperson of the Pro Football Hall of Fame Festival, with 35 years of volunteer service to the organization. She was also a founding member of Women’s Impact, where she was named Stark County's first Athena Award winner, recognizing her efforts in mentoring emerging women leaders. In 2015, she was selected for the inaugural class of Women in Leadership by the Governing Institute, a national government magazine.
Creighton is married to William Turnbow and has two adult children, Jennifer and John, and two grandchildren, Benjamin and Chloe.
Doors open at 1:00PM; Event begins and tea is served at 1:30PM at the National First Ladies Library & Museum (205 Market Ave. South, Canton, OH 44702). Free parking is available in the First Ladies National Historic Site parking next to the historic Saxton-McKinley House which is one block south of the Museum.
