Description
You'll sample a delightful selection of tapas (small plates) paired with Spanish wines as you learn a little about the customs, ingredients, and delicious gastronomy of Spain. Sponsored by Foods and Wines from Spain, Chef Mat Schuster, a native Texan who owns and operates Canela Bistro and Wine Bar in San Francisco, will introduce you to some of his modern takes on traditional Spanish cuisine while you sit back, relax, and enjoy a meal of tapas and pick up tips on recreating these dishes in your home.
For ages 21 & up. Spanish wines will be paired with your tapas.
ABOUT CHEF MAT SCHUSTER
Mat Schuster is owner and chef of Canela Bistro and Wine Bar, a neighborhood Spanish restaurant in San Francisco focusing on modern takes of traditional Spanish cuisine. Previously, he was Executive Chef for the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy, with multiple natural foods cafes near the Golden Gate Bridge, and served as Food and Beverage Director and Executive Chef at San Francisco's esteemed Bay Club where he focused on fresh, naturally healthful cuisine.
Mat's cooking career took off after studying abroad in Italy while in college, prompting him to enroll in the California Culinary Academy's College of Food in San Diego. Mat earned a nutrition educator accreditation from Bauman College in Berkeley and managed and led cooking classes at Draeger's Culinary Center. He also currently serves as a board member of the Golden Gate Restaurant Association where he focuses on continuing education for professional chefs.
