Enjoy an afternoon in the heart of one of the oldest areas in Los Angeles, where it all began.
About this Event

"Calle Olvera" better known as , Olvera Street is the oldest part of los angeles known to Southern California.This popular tourist attraction was originally established in the early 1800's, and has since evolved into a marketplace where one can purchase and enjoy quaint nicknacks, eateries of genuine mexican cuisine and walking tours that showcase and elaborate the origin of the area throughout its evolution.We will begin our journey on a 45-50 min walking tour , we will elaborate on historic buildings and platforms built in the early 1800s and the changes that have occured in the area throughout the years...Second, we will visit "the adobe house", the oldest house built in los angeles, in 1818. This home exhibition takes about 20 min to see. It showcases three large rooms that you can walk through and that are set up to look like what the area would have looked like in the 1840’s.We will end our tour to enjoy delicious, authentic Mexican cuisine at"La Glondrina Cafe" . Best known as "Casa La Golondrina Cafe", which was the first Mexican restaurant in Los Angeles, originally La Mission, opening in the current site of LA’s City Hall in 1922. Consuelo Castillo de Bonzo, an immigrant from Aguas Calientes, Mexico, was invited to relocate to Olvera Street in the Pelaconi House, built circa 1855-57.The food is delicious and authentic, especially the enchiladas , salsa and margaritas !
