This event explores the critical role of long-term climate observations in informing risk assessment and decision-making across sectors.
About this Event

This event explores the critical role of long-term climate observations in informing risk assessment and decision-making across sectors. As questions emerge about the continuity of federal observational programs, understanding how climate data supports risk management becomes increasingly important. The panel will examine current applications, challenges, and opportunities in the climate data landscape.

The event addresses four key questions:

  • How do insurance companies and private sector organizations incorporate climate data, including long-term observations, into their risk assessment and strategic planning?
  • How would the loss of climate data impact the insurance industry?
  • What emerging approaches could address potential gaps or discontinuities in federal climate data programs?
  • How can improved collaboration between data producers and users enhance climate risk management capabilities?

*Please note: This event is invite-only. Breakfast service will be provided.
