Tuesday, January 15th, 2024, at 6 pm ONE Lexington will partner with NAMI Lexington to host a community forum on gun violence specifically for SURVIVORS. We want to hear from those who have been directly affected by gun violence. Parents who have lost children, kids who have lost parents, and anyone who has had to bury a loved one at the hands of gun violence in the city of Lexington. We want to hear about their experiences and concerns in the community in regard to gun violence and what the city should do to address it moving forward.
What is working? What isn't working? Your feedback will be part of our process to update ONE Lexington's strategic plan to address youth and young adult gun violence. Since 2022, Lexington has seen a 60 percent degree in gun violence (2022: 44 homicides, 135 shootings compared to 2024: 17 homicides & 60 shootings) and we want to continue that progress. But we can't do it without YOU!
FREE meals provided.
The University of Kentucky Innovation Lab will be present to help compile all of the thoughts, ideas, and sentiments expressed in this forum so that data can be used to inform our strategy moving forum. Resources for individuals and families affected by gun violence will be made available and licensed mental health professionals will be present at all times for anyone needing additional support.
