About this Event
In this fermentation fest, rice takes the spotlight not only as a cocktail ingredient but also as a focal point in Grace Tan’s artistic exploration and with works specially crafted for the event. From the production of sake in Japan to the creation of art with rice paper in China, rice has been central in the culture of this region, shaping diets, customs, and economies for thousands of years.
Now, within the laboratory ambiance of Native, guests are invited to ponder the parallels between art-making and mixology— the blending of elements, the transformation of states, and the unveiling of unexpected possibilities – in a spirited Sunday, and a Sunday of spirits.
Embracing the role of the artist-as-alchemist, Grace explores the transformative potential of ordinary materials through her meticulous processes of construction and deconstruction. Native, a bar recognised for championing local ingredients and experimental techniques provides the perfect lab setting for this alchemical experience.
