If you have been inspired and moved by the many TV programmes that lovingly bring textiles back to life such as The Repair Shop and the Travelling Auctioneers, then you will be fascinated to hear how you can care for your own treasured textiles in your own home!Sarah Howard is a trained and accredited freelance textile conservator. She will share details about how and why textiles deteriorate and top tips on how you can preserve your own textiles. She will also highlight some conservation projects she has recently worked on, demonstrating how museums store and display their textile collections for present and future generations to enjoy.
Sarah will bring along items from her handling collection to illustrate her talk and for you to view closely. You are welcome to bring along your textiles for Sarah to offer advice and others attending to enjoy.
