A Sussex Retreat
At Gayles Retreat, Friston, Sussex.
Thursday 29th May to Sunday 1st June 2025
Gayles is a family run estate and home which has been used as a retreat centre since 2012. It is situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and surrounded by National Trust, Country Park and Forestry Commission land so you will have open access to stunningly beautiful countryside all around....and the sea!
Roz and Derry, who own the estate and run retreats there themselves , have taken special care to create a comfortable and peaceful space for you to enjoy during your retreat. The accommodation allows for you to have your own room or to share with up to six others in thoughtfully appointed buildings set in beautiful grounds and surrounded by rolling downland with breathtaking views all around. You also have the option to camp, they will set up a tent for you and you will have the use of the ‘Royal Horsebox’, an ingeniously converted pony trailer which has an excellent shower and a separate washroom.
There is a converted cow shed which makes a beautiful Yoga space for us to enjoy. Plus it has a swimming pool which will be open when we are there!
After years of running 2 night retreats I have found that people tend to have just settled in by the time we have to go so this year we will begin on a Thursday evening so we have three days to enjoy time away from it all, including yoga, sound baths and walks.
The retreat will begin after work on a Thursday, arrival is from 5pm. We will have a bedtime gentle yoga session and sound bath that evening before sleep.
We will practice silence between 10pm until after the first morning yoga session each day to allow time for self reflection and quiet.
On this retreat you can expect:
Silent morning meditation walks
Qi Gong outside
Breathwork
Hatha Yoga in mornings
Yin Yoga in afternoons
Sound Baths
Yoga Nidra
Journaling time with prompts
Walk on the South Downs
A sunset Freedom Dance - an ecstatic conscious dance with headphones so we can dance barefoot outside and not disturb the neighbours!
Plenty of free time to rest, read, swim and enjoy the beautiful location
Food
Good quality, locally sourced and totally yummy, tasty and nourishing! Served in the relaxed atmosphere of the beautifully converted dining room. If the weather is sunny there is the option of eating out in the open on the terrace. Food will be vegetarian (vegan) and organic. Any food intolerances can be accommodated and you will be asked for details on the booking form.
