Do you miss Palmer Woods Music in Homes as we do? Join us to hear some extraordinary music as you did at our past concerts in Palmer Woods, the Detroit Institute of Arts and elsewhere. Hear some of Spencer's music here:
Spencer has been ill for the past two years but he is back in the saddle again. Please join us for some of his best guitar work at this very cool intimate venue. Seating is limited so please make reservations and get tickets in advance. Spencer is looking forward to seeing and playing for everyone after a rough couple of years.
It’s a distinct honor to welcome Detroit native guitarist, composer and bandleader A. Spencer Barefield to Moondog Café. As a Kresge fellow, founder and director of the Creative Arts Collective and collaborator with jazz legends like Roscoe Mitchell, Lester Bowie, Oliver Lake, Richard Davis, Andrew Cyrille, James Carter and Jon Batiste, to name just a few, Barefield is a celebrated fixture and preeminent musical artist in the Detroit avant-garde.
On this occasion, Barefield will perform two solo sets interpolating the music of Thelonious Monk, Charles Mingus and John Coltrane with music of his own mind. We’re thrilled to hear his guitar envelope the space.
Please join us for this highly rare and intimate evening with A. Spencer Barefield! Advance tickets are $20 or $30, including beverage and hors d’oeuvres from Moondog Café!
