A Shrewdness of Apes started as an acoustic duo with Ian Mabley and Dave Greek in Richmond, VA in 2013. After the addition of a drummer and a few rotations of lineups, they developed into a progressive rock trio, influenced by Queens of the Stone Age, Tool, Yes, and Alice in Chains.
As the remaining original member, Ian Mabley moved to DC in 2014 and continued the project with new members Sumeet Mahal and Jared Coffin. It is with this lineup that they recorded the band's first full-length album, which was later released in 2019. With the current lineup of Chris Sciotto and J.R. Franks, the band made it to the finals for best hard rock song, album, and artist of the D.C. area's 2020 Wammie Awards. They made it to the finals again in 2021 for Best Hard Rock Artist.
Whether it's acoustic riffs, dizzying time signatures, or monolithic electric guitar solos, expect the musically unexpected with A Shrewdness of Apes.

A power trio rooted in the basic tenets of rock, Jackie and The Treehorns create music from just outside the nation’s capital in Alexandria, VA and just outside the mainstream. Formed in 2009 and fronted by Steven Rubin under the guise of an altered ego (Jackie) and his band (The Treehorns) the group fight to keep the flames of the rock and/or roll fire lit with inspired original inventiveness.
Jackie and The Treehorns’ music covers a wide sonic palate, taking the listener down familiar paths before detouring towards parts unknown, while Jackie’s lyrics explore topics ranging from celebrity stalkers, robots, serial killers, and hitchhikers to odd phenomena like UFO’s, déjà vu, ghosts, and extraterrestrial party favors.

Betamax, formed in Alexandria VA by Mike Barrett (guit, vox), Mike Falcon (drums) and Steve Hansgen (bass, vox) in 2017 and later rounded out by Tyler DeCourt (vox, guit, keys) is a force of Rock n’ Roll. Big drums. Loud bass. Fast guitars. Catchy vocals. Betamax has everything you need in a rock band with influences taken from Van Halen, Led Zeppelin, Queen, and Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem. They are currently recording their second album with producer Jon Seymour; due to release mid December 2021. Consciously composed yet viciously raw. Fun, complicated and honest, Betamax is lookin for love in the downtown DC area.
