About this Event

As part of the Totally Thames Festival, come and join us for a guided walk around the Greenwich Peninsula to explore the lesser-known environmental past and present of London's famous river.

During the walk we will discuss the impacts of Ice Ages, how the river and its surrounding area has changed as London grew, the deterioration and revival of aquatic life, and the future. The talk will also highlight that by investing into the recovery of an urban river, it can become a healthy and thriving environment with diverse aquatic habitats and species.

The walk will provide an opportunity to enjoy the mental health and well-being benefits of being outside and being near water as well #BlueMind. (To find out about the concept of Blue Mind, listen to our Talk of the Thames podcast episode.)

The guided walk will start at the History in Motion display on Olympian Way, about 500 yards east from North Greenwich Pier (what3words: noted.wash.deed), and will finish at Point Wharf (what3words: city.groom.call) with short stops in between.
