Artist Cole Melvin is leading A Seasonal Creative Practice -- a weekly art class for anyone interested in developing their creative practice through drawing at any level.A typical class will center around an idea that is connected to the current season or time of year. Expect park wanderings, still-life setups, or assorted props for you to study and observe. Experience demonstrations on drawing media, skills, and techniques. Alternatively, enjoy drawing from imagination and benefit from sharing ideas and inspiration in a creative community.
All materials are included in the sliding scale cost of $35-45 per session -- feel free to bring your own supplies as well!
"Talent is a pursued interest. In other words, anything that you're willing to practice, you can do."
- Bob Ross
With a naturalist’s curiosity and a storyteller’s heart, Cole invites audiences of all ages to see nature not just as a subject, but as a teacher with wisdom to share; to see art-making not just as a pastime, but as an exercise for wellbeing. Through his illustrations and instruction Cole hopes to give people the skills they need to make art, find joy, and discover their own style.
Mr. Melvin studied art and design education at Northern Illinois University, then relocated to Madison, where he started a career as an elementary art educator. He currently works as an independent artist and private art teacher in the Madison area. Cole enjoys exploring the parks and trails of south-central Wisconsin with his loving wife and chosen family.
